A boarding school like no other, Ma’had Ibnu Sina GER (ISGER) shelters orphans and poor children in Aceh, Indonesia and puts them through school.
Combining religious education, national education, and helping them build important skills, a graduate from this school could free himself from poverty.

If not for this Ma’had, most of the 77 attending students would be struggling at home with very little to eat. In the comfort of ISGER, they could depend on your kindness to feed them three times a day.
Can hungry children learn?
Children need nutrients for their development.
Hunger and malnutrition affect a child’s ability to concentrate, to take in and retain new information and to make progress in their learning.
Calories provide energy. Without energy, how can children thrive in their learning? How can they make the most of the opportunities in front of them?
Will hunger affect them psychologically?
Hunger impacts sleep, and tired children are obviously not functioning at their best. Sleep deprivation could impede their brain development.
They may become withdrawn, depressed, angry, and detached from life. They are less able to cope with the challenges of each day and more likely to struggle emotionally.
What about their health?
Malnutrition makes children susceptible to illnesses. They lack the vitamins and minerals needed to maintain a strong immune system. Starving children get sick and cannot attend school.
We must prevent all of the above mentioned from happening. The responsibility of these children’s welfare, whether their mental and physical well-being, falls on us.
